Full Moon: A Dance of Opposing Energies

The full moon occurs when the sun and moon are positioned on opposite sides of the earth, allowing the sun’s light to illuminate the moon’s face entirely. This cosmic alignment reflects a balance of opposing yet complementary forces, like yin and yang. These energies invite us to step into our wholeness, embracing the active and passive elements of ourselves.

As the full moon illuminates the night sky, it can intensify our emotional and mental states. If we lack discipline or inner strength, this time may feel overwhelming. The powerful yang energy of the full moon can stir up restlessness, triggering emotional waves and heightening sensitivities. Invite the new moon’s cool, calming, feminine yin energy to bring balance into your awareness.

Balancing Your Dosha & Energy

As the full moon's energy peaks, consider your constitution, or dosha, as Ayurvedic philosophy describes. For some, the heightened energy of the full moon can feel irritating, agitating the mind and body. Support your balance by eating grounding, nourishing foods and drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated. Calm the nervous system by connecting with nature. These practices can help you stay centered during this intense lunar phase.

The Full Moon as a Symbol of Birth

In her fullness, the moon symbolizes a woman in her final stages of pregnancy, ready to give birth. This is a time to shine, to bring forth your dreams and manifestations into the world. Just as laboring brings pain and release, the full moon invites you to surrender and transform. Embrace the intensity of this time, stepping into your inner strength and recognizing stress responses and old patterns of addiction. Stay present and connected to the moment, especially when powerful emotions and anxieties occur.

As the moon’s energy ripens, so does your opportunity to co-create with the universe and establish new habits and routines. This is the fertile, ovulatory phase of the moon's cycle—a perfect time to set your intentions and ask the universe for what you desire. Look for signs of synchronicity, as the universe often speaks through subtle messages during this time.

Entering Samadhi: Union with the Divine

The full moon is a portal to deeper spiritual awareness, offering an opportunity to enter Samadhi, the eighth and final limb of yoga. Samadhi is the state of total absorption where the mind, body, and spirit merge into oneness with the universe. In this state, there is no distinction between the self and the divine—only pure consciousness, a complete surrender to the flow of life.

Tap into the essence of Samadhi by immersing yourself in activities that bring you into a flow state. Whether through meditation, yoga, or creative expression, the key is to release the ego's expectations and surrender to the present moment. As you let go of what no longer serves your higher purpose, the full moon will be waiting to guide transformation with her cosmic energies.

Rituals for Manifestation & Letting Go

The full moon is a powerful time for recharging and manifesting your deepest desires. Engage in rituals that align with your intentions, such as yoga, meditation, or a full moon ceremony. Release what no longer serves you, such as an old belief, habit, or emotional pattern. This clears space for the new intentions you will plant during the new moon phase.

Bathe in the healing light of the full moon to recharge your energy and crystals. Embrace the celebratory spirit of Litha, the midsummer solstice, with a fire and dance ritual. Let the dark feminine yin energy move through you with music, releasing stagnant energies and welcoming flow.

Surrendering during the full moon is like holding light and darkness—yin and yang—together as one. In this space, we can move beyond the extremes or duality and know we are all in a continuous process of becoming. Surrender to the unknown and trust the divine flow guiding you toward liberation and your highest self.
